Guide & methodology
Understand the football behind the numbers.
Coefficients & rankings
An association’s season coefficient divides the points earned by its clubs by its entrant count. Its five-year total adds the five season coefficients. Competition filters select participants; they never recalculate an association’s total.
A club’s official coefficient is different from its contribution to its association. Each uses its own reference period. Contribution journeys show match points and real entry or progression bonuses; the total is the club’s help to its association, not its club ranking.
Coefficients display three decimals. Ordering retains the recorded precision and UEFA tie rules. Shared positions remain shared; a separate display order does not break a sporting tie. A partial club ranking covers only the stated data universe.
Five-year ranking → UEFA base access
The ranking ending in a season determines base access two seasons later. The intervening domestic season decides which clubs occupy those places. Ranking bands show entry places and starting rounds, excluding EPS, titleholders and later UEFA rebalancing.
2018/19–2022/23 ranking → 2024/25 base access. Bands use the accepted 2026/27 reference; 2024/25 details await UEFA confirmation.
Accepted access editions
- 2026/27 · 2020/21–2024/25 ranking · Base access
UEFA Circular 49/2025, official 2026/27 access list, is the accepted base reference. Association-specific exceptions and suspensions, including Liechtenstein’s cup-only entry and Russia’s suspension, remain separate from general rank bands. Other editions remain pending confirmation.
European Performance Spots
EPS is a one-season association race, separate from five-year base access. The two best-performing eligible associations receive an extra Champions League place for the following season. Domestic standings and qualification rules determine the beneficiary club.
